Shadow Dancing

A New Moon in Matariki Women's Gathering

  • 40 New Zealand dollars
  • 5 Bert Wall Drive, Omokoroa

Service Description

The new moon, the depths of Winter - Te Pō - the physical darkness offers us time to rest and recover. As a metaphor it invites us to explore the hidden or unconscious parts of ourselves and their relationship to light and 'being'. Within Te Pō lays guidance derived from stories which include reference to Matariki - the Pleiades star cluster. The emergence of Matariki in our night sky marks a time to reflect & evaluate, inviting endings and closure and allowing new starts and beginnings to come to 'light'... This gathering is an invitation to slow down, make friends with our shadows - the dark, outcast, unacknowledged places within. It is a time to allow ourselves to be drawn to the warmth of the hearth and the sisterhood, to be soothed, held and listened to. We will share the stories, meaning and metaphor of Matariki, and explore our own shadows and darkness. We will creatively explore the dark & light of 'being', guided by our soul's voice expressing through our bodies, imagery, collage and mixed media. We will create a A4 sized 'Soul-full Vision' (Board) to help guide you. Please bring any personal items, materials, or images that resonate with you or you might like to share with others. Co-hosted by Sharon Parker and Lea Tehuia-Eastwood. We invite participants to stay afterwards for a potluck dinner - please indicate at registration if you intend to join us.
